Christa's Class Update

I know that last week we had a brief discussion about the pace of the course and limited discussion time. I haven’t yet had a chance to review the midterm course evaluations which may include suggestions for ensuring that we cover our material and have in-depth discussions.

In advance of reviewing the midterm course evaluations, I would like to suggest that we take a few steps to maximize our class time:

1) begin promptly at 6 pm (I will start talking at 6; I am totally fine with folks eating while we have class)

2) have a very short break (5 mins for bathroom)

3) use notecards for questions as we did once before

4) for tomorrow evening: I will summarize main points from the economic policy/budgeting chapter and we will move to health care after break; we will continue with health care into next week in order to engage in discussion about this significant policy area

thanks for your understanding~

Also, Heather had talked about the benefit of being able to have more time to discuss with each other, and Christa, the class topics and lecture. I had thought that we could decide to voluntarily get to class 15 minutes early to give time for this. This could just be for those who are interested, and not required, but possibly more structured than our current pre-class time. Would anyone be interested in this?
